La Casa Errante, Castilenti

Three tiny houses in the hills of Abruzzo

They sit on the Sole D'Italia fields, among the hens and the olive trees, with the Gran Sasso in the distance. Each house is self-contained, with its own kitchen and bathroom.

Inside

Twenty-three square metres of pale timber, every corner put to use: a double bed, a sofa bed, a kitchenette with pans and crockery, a hot shower, an eco cassette toilet and air conditioning for August nights.

The tub, under the stars

Open from June to September

Warm water, the dark of the countryside, and nothing but the wind in the olive trees.

In summer the hot tub comes with your stay at no extra cost. From October to May it's closed, and evenings are for a blanket and a look at the sky.

Tall grass and trees in the foreground, with a mountain on the horizon

Around

Pescara is 43 minutes away by car. On one side the sea, with Torre di Cerrano and the Trabocchi Coast; on the other the mountains, with Rocca Calascio, Campo Imperatore and the Majella National Park.

A word of warning: chances are the neighbours' rooster will be your alarm clock.

Before you book

How many people can stay?

Up to three per house: there's a double bed and a sofa bed.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, pets are welcome: just mention it when you book. A very friendly dog lives on the property too.

Is the hot tub always open?

From June to September, and it's included in the price. From October to May it's closed.

How does arrival work?

Check-in is self-service: the keys are in a lockbox.

Is there wifi?

Yes, but we're in the countryside and the connection is limited. For a few days, that's rather the point.

Can we come as a group?

Yes: there's more than one house, and for groups they can be booked together with a day's notice.
